TIPS TO BUILD UP YOUR STAMINA

Every time I look at my 6 year old niece, I wonder – ‘Where does she get all that energy from?’ She’s constantly bouncing up and down and seems to be enthusiastic even while she says her ‘goodnights’ at the end of the day. Then again, I look at myself. I feel the energy sap out of my body before the clock strikes 4 pm.  I sometimes wonder if I had that kind of my energy when I was a kid myself. My mother says I did, I think otherwise.

But where has all that energy disappeared now?  I sat down to think and I realized that I’d lost out on my stamina. Plus, with age, we begin reacting differently to different foods. When we were kids, a lot of sugar would send us into screaming-banshee frenzy around the house. But now that we’re older, we’d probably hit a bed if someone was to douse us in sugar.

The keyword here is metabolism. It controls how our food is going to get processed. I’m going to spell out for you some ways in which you can regain your stamina by boosting that metabolism rate that’s gone into hibernation mode.

1.  Determination is the keyword

This isn’t about the physical as much as it is about the mental. The main problem that all of us face is the lack of motivation. We all speak about how there are these things that we want to do; and then, we either don’t get down to doing it at all; or we’ll end up doing it for a short while and then we quit. If you really want to do something, then begin with buying a large calendar and an equally large notebook. If you need to do something on a daily basis, then mark it on a list and/or on the calendar. Keeping a tab of it will help you keep up.

Walking is one of the best exercises in the world; and it could help you lose weight as well as build up your metabolism. You could decide between walking outside in a park, or on the treadmill. Some people prefer the ‘real’ deal over a treadmill because they claim it can get boring after a while. If you fall into this category, then you could choose a park or a scenic place to take your walks. The beauty will act as a natural motivator. Alternate between slow walking and brisk walking; doing each for a good 15 minutes before you switch. This will help you see the best results.

3.  Biking it up

A bike can possibly give you what is the best cardio workout in the world. Plus, it could be the healthiest way of getting around the city/area that you live in. When you tire out, you could begin floating around here and there, by pedaling lightly. You’re still on the move and you aren’t straining yourself. Ensure that your body gets comfortable with it soon, or Stamina building foodyou’ll end up quitting soon. Which you wouldn’t want to, would you now?

4.  Small changes in the diet

Instead of telling you what to eat, I’m going to tell you what not to eat. Carbohydrates are perhaps the most expected of elements on this list. Keep off the white bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. These will shut you down like a laptop going into hibernation. Leaner meats and veggies should take their place and you could keep off fruits in the afternoon. The natural sweetness could also cause some people to feel sleepier.
